My favorite Natural Resource African Black Soap

My Fountain of Youth African Black Soap

African natural black soap is one of my favorite natural resources.  African Black soap contains more benefits for healthy skin than you can imagine. African Black Soap has been used for generations as a natural remedy for acne, eczema, oily skin and more.

All natural African black soap is made from dried plantain skins, palm leaves, coconut oil, cocoa pod powder, and kernel oil and butters these ingredients makes an all-natural cleansing soap. Plantains skins are largely what make this black soap so effective. It is a natural source of vitamins A & E and iron. When black soap is made, the skin of the plantain is dried under the sun and then roasted in a clay oven. The heat must be constant in order to achieve the perfect brownish black color, texture & smell. Afterwards, cocoa pod powder is added. Cocoa pod is the shell of the cocoa fruit and also has natural healing properties.

African Black soap has antibacterial properties that aids against acne and blemishes. It doesn’t remove existing acne however; it does prevent excessive oil production.  African black soap is rich in antioxidants which fights against free radicals that cause premature aging. It’s a fountain of youth.  Yes, a fountain of youth in a bar.  It’s a gentle exfoliate that may help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and skin discolorations that indicate the early signs of aging skin.  African black soap is also great for sensitive skin it contains Vitamin E which is nourishing for the skin.

Black soap should never be all black in color. You will find bars of  hard black soap being sold at beauty supply stores, health food stores, and flea markets and online. If you come across a product on the market that claims to be “natural” black soap and it’s not brown in color and soft.  It's  processed and dyed therefore doesn’t have the same benefits as natural black soap. Additionally, the fake black soap is very hard in texture, whereas natural black soap is very soft and you can break it apart very easily. Usually the Natural African black soap isn't in a box. It's Usually wrapped in a plastic wrapping, in a deli style container or in a bottle which is called liquid black soap.

To use the African Black Soap:

You use African Black soap just like any other soap however, you can break a small piece of the soap off and it will create a big lather. Use African black soap to wash your face, body and hair. Wet your face with lukewarm water; break a piece of the African Black off the bar. Rub the African Black Soap in your hands to create lather apply the soap to your face. Rinse your face with lukewarm water. You may feel a slight tingling on your face that's just the African Black Soap pulling the impurities out of your skin.

African Black soap can be used as a body soap. Use it as you would you would use your regular daily soap.. You can also use African black soap to wash your hair. To use as a shampoo, break a piece of the  black soap off, rub in hair to create a lather. Shampoo the hair and rinse out The black soap will leave a squciky clean feeling so make sure to use a moisturizing conditioner after shampooing

Make your own liquid black soap instead of buying store bought hand soap. To make your own liquid black soap, boil a cup of water. Pour boiled water into a bowl, add a half of cup of pieces of black soap or shaving of black soap the bowl. To shave African Black soap use a cheese grater and grate the soap. After adding the African Black Soap to the bowl, stir to ensure all pieces of the soap will dissolve. Cover the bowl with a lid or plastic wrap. Let the soap sit overnight stirring occasionally. Pour your soap in a recycled hand soap dispenser or any bottle you have. If you have essential oils or fragrance oils they can be added to give a nice smelling aroma.
